NANDITA NARAIN CENTRE FOR MATHEMATICS EDUCATION
At the Nandita Narain Centre for Mathematics Education, we believe in empowering students to achieve academic excellence and become autonomous learners. Founded by Professor Nandita Narain, a retired Mathematics teacher from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University, NNCME focuses on building a strong mathematical foundation that enables students to truly explore, understand and enjoy the subject.
Professor Narain completed her B. A. (Hons), & M. A. in Mathematics from St. Stephens College, Delhi University in 1981. She was awarded 5 Gold Medals by the university for obtaining the highest marks in all subjects.
NNCME’s vision stems from Professor Narain’s rich experience of teaching mathematics to undergraduate students of St. Stephens College for over 42 years, and her commitment and dedication to generations of students who have benefited from her unique teaching methods. Infact, her teaching methods have been immortalised as ‘Ms X ‘ in a research paper published in the Journal of Educational Research in Mathematics, for the University of Cambridge, titled ‘Demystifying Proofs through Structured Interaction : A Case Study of One Instructor's teaching in an Undergraduate Analysis Course’.

Ever since she retired in September 2023, Professor Narain has been missing her teaching tremendously and is now looking for students who genuinely want to understand the subject. While she has taught a variety of mathematics courses, her forte is Real Analysis and Modern Algebra, which most students find very difficult to comprehend. Her teaching methodology is participative and interactive. She uses real life examples to explain abstract concepts, which has helped to keep students engaged, inspired and find joy in the subject.
NNCME is an educational start-up and in the true tradition of legendary origin stories, NNCME begins its journey from Professor Narain's home and 'garage centre'. Soon, NNCME will expand its operations to larger spaces and wider audiences.

Students Workshops
NNCME offers various workshops to educational institutions, aimed at strengthening foundational mathematics, designed to address the specific needs and learning gaps for undergraduate students. Currently, NNCME is offering a 4 session capsule workshop on ‘Symbolic Logic for Beginners’ for undergraduate students. NNCME is open to collaborations with educational institutes to devise and conduct workshops in other areas, such as developing critical ability and proof methodology.
Teachers Workshops
NNCME offers various teacher training workshops to educational institutions, aimed at capacitating teachers with new teaching methodologies that have been found to be successful in helping students to understand abstract concepts in mathematics and become autonomous learners. Currently, NNCME is offering a 4 session capsule workshop on ‘ Teaching Real Analysis to Beginners’ for teachers. NNCME is open to collaboration with educational institutes to devise and conduct similar workshops in other areas, such as Group Theory, Probability Theory and Mechanics.
